Happy Mommy's Day!

As it is Mother's Day, I just couldn't go through the day without talking about my mom a little bit. I have to say that I have been so very blessed to have her as my mother. I truly cannot list all that she has done for me, but I remember how well she took care of me when I was sick. She always tried to make me feel as good as I possibly could. A frosty from Wendy's always accompanied a trip to the doctor. :) Mom was the one who taught me to be a social worker! (Friends come to me all the time with issues they are having, and I just think...what would mom tell them?") My mom is loud, fun, poetic, and knows what she thinks...and so does everyone else! She isn't afraid to get down on all fours in the middle of a restaurant to show friends how her dog sits. (ask me later) She loves words, and she tastes words. How cool is that?! as I have grown to be an adult, my mom is my best friend. The woman who, through my teenage years, I wanted to be NOTHING like is exactly who I am trying to be.

But most importantly, her values and morals are what made it possible for me to accept the gospel when it was taught to me. This is the greatest gift that she has given me, though she may not completely understand that yet. And she tried to be a better mother than her mother was to her because, she said, "Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?" My mother is THE best...for her sake, I hope I can be better.

Oh Abby, I love your mom also. I have since I met her so many years ago. Upon meeting her, one is immediately aware of her intelligence and humor and love of life. I'm thrilled that Eli gets to be a part of her life because of you. HAPPY MOM'S DAY NANCY!!!! Beautifully written Abby...love you.

Oh, Ab, jeesh! I'm having enough problems with my skin these days (isn't it written somewhere that it's against the law to have zits AND wrinkles at the SAME TIME???)and here you go, worsening my complexion, with tears streaming down my face!

But, good tears. Happy tears.

Not at all unlike the ones I have shed for you many times throughout your beautiful life.

Thank you. :)
