Our New Snack Cupboard

Ok. I love Pinterest. If you don't know what Pinterest is yet, you must go there. Now. Once you have visited and see all that it has to offer, let me know and I will send you an invite. :) It is chock full of wonderful ideas for almost anything. I have tried several recipes I've found on the site and many have now become family favorites.

But a couple days ago I finally put together a snack cupboard for the kids. The inspiration, of course, came from several different ideas I found on Pinterest. Charlie and Liv are big eaters (thanks to the insane amount of energy they have), so almost every day they ask for snack less than an hour after each meal. Needless to say, this momma is too busy to simply feed children all day long. So I cleared out one of our lower cupboards so that it was easily accessible to little people, and I pre-packaged a bunch of snacks. Now when I hear, "Mooooooom, I'm hungry!" I simply direct them to the snack cupboard.

I was worried that they would abuse the easy accessibility of the food, so I made sure they knew that they still had to ask before they could get a snack. So far, it seems to be working like a charm. The other added advantage is that they have a great degree of independence in choosing what they want to eat. They are absolutely loving it. This morning, Charlie looked at me and said, "Mom! Look! Today I'm choosing Cheez-its and raisins!" So yeah. I'd say it's a success. Now to figure out the drinks...
