First Trimester Oddities

When you are pregnant, the question people ask you most is, "How are you feeling?" It's especially exciting when you are talking to another woman who is pregnant, because after you answer, you now have to ask. :) And really, don't most women who have been pregnant know the drill? Sure, you might have more nausea, and you might be more tired, but we all have kinda been there. So as for me, I battle some nausea that comes and goes and I am definitely tired...a lot.

But here's the thing that I don't hear a lot of women say. I have aversions. Food aversions? Yes. Smell aversions? Yes. I know this is not uncommon. But it goes far beyond food and smells for me. It was the same when I was pregnant with the twins. Last time, my biggest aversion was blog backgrounds!! I know right? BIZARRE. I would search, and search, and search for a blog background that didn't make me gag. No offense to all of you who had offending backgrounds. I'm fine with them now.

This time around, its something similar. Every day I get a different part of a digital scrapbooking kit. (PS. I don't do digital scrapbooking. I use them for another purpose.) Every morning when I see the email alerting me that I can now download the new thing, I get a little sick to my stomach. I keep downloading them, knowing that eventually I won't feel this way, but for now...yuck!

Am I weird? Anybody else have this kind of aversion when pregnant? It's very, very strange.

No aversions, other than the food kind, but I do have the inability to sit still without doing something. I have to have something in my hands. It drives me crazy that I can't just carry on a conversation with someone without doing something else, too.

i only had food issues with you, abbykins, but i can totally see why looking at patterns and backgrounds and stuff like that could make you nauseated.heck, i used to get sick to my stomach looking at the wallpaper in the house on the old tv show, kate and allie. it was all squiggly and stuff and i was like, PUH-LEEZE.

for me with Benjamin, it was a commercial on TV where they sliced a tomato. They could slice anything else, heck *I* could slice anything else, but something about watching a tomato being sliced put me over the edge.

Nope. Nada. Nothing.

Bugs. They don't bother me at all, well, not in a freak-out-girlie-pathetic kind of way. but when I'm pregnant, even the thought of them sends me running with my hands over my head.

I find this so intriguing. Is it the patterns? The act of downloading them? Something else maybe, like making a decision about them? This is so fascinating to me.

So, Nancy also disliked the pattern on Kate & Allie. This could just be a case of spontaneous good taste, so who knows. xoxo :)

Sometimes the graphics on my blog look like they're in 3D, which they are not and I find that interesting in a spooky, seizurey kind of way-but I'm not pregnant so I don't have THAT excuse.

I don't know, kiddo. I'm going to ponder this. It's thought provoking for sure, but so is your entire life.....

I am so easily irritated when I'm pregnant, it's embarrassing. So, ya. . I can totally imagine doing that. Not that I did. . but, you'll get no judgment from me!
