Sunday, Sunday

Going to church with my kiddos is tricky. I do not, under any circumstances, think that I am the only person that has a hard time with their children at church. I just want to put that out there. But, the lovable personalities that my children have (especially Olivia) don't always mesh with the church setting. I haven't been to more than sacrament meeting since September! (For those who might not be familiar with the LDS church, we go to church for 3 hours on Sunday. Sacrament meeting is only the first hour.)

Both of my children are active, bouncy, and often times loud individuals. None of these things work well when people are trying to concentrate in church. Yesterday, Olivia was in rare form. She was just raring to go. We tried sitting in the front this time in the hopes that Charlie and Liv would be interested in what was happening on the stand. But during the sacrament hymn "Behold the Great Redeemer Die", Olivia stood up on the pew and started dancing! Apparently that hymn has a good beat. :) The people behind us started cracking up, so I felt it was now necessary to take her into the hallway.

I walked out with her and took her over to the couch. Above the couch is a painting of the Savior. To be honest, I don't know which painting it was exactly. But Olivia turned toward the wall and pointed to it. So I stood up and pointed to the Savior and said, "That's Jesus, Livy." She pointed again. And then she said, "Jes." I wonder if any of his family or close friends ever called him that. :)

I decided to walk around the building and point out Jesus in all of the paintings. After we had finished them all, we walked back to the original painting. Eli was sitting on the couch with Charlie now, so I pointed to the Savior and said, "Livy, tell Daddy who that is." And she said, "Jes."

They may be bouncy and active and loud, but they're still learning. :)

"Jes" I like it. She's a bright one!!! Soon, she and Charlie will be art historians in the building, pointing out, "Jes", "Johnnie", "Mary without her lamb", "the Wivah Jordan".

I can't wait for the tour.

:)

Juliet likes to close her eyes and twirl to the hymns. If I let her she would do this in the aisles (too bad we aren't Pentacostal). You are at the hardest age for kids at church...but nursery is coming soon.
