Riverside Hospital: Day 45 (Save the Date)

I have been trying to write this entry all day, but I have been so busy. It's amazing how busy one can be while on bedrest in a hospital! :) But this morning was very exciting and we have had news to share with everyone. We finally have a date for the c-section! On December 12, 2008 at 4:00pm, Liv and Charlie should be on their way into the world! It is so wonderful to see the light at the end of the tunnel. To know that things are going to be okay. On 12/12 I will be 34 weeks and 1 day, putting us in the safe zone. There is even a small chance that the babies could come home when I do.

To be honest, I hope that they are in the NICU for a little bit. It just feels safer to me. And by that point I will have been on bedrest for 10 weeks, which means the nursery just isn't ready to be inhabited yet! It would be wonderful to have the time to get those things in order and have some time to rest up and heal from the c-section. Then when the babies finally come home, we will be better prepared to care for them there.

And then we have to make sure we have all of the immediate essentials ready to go when they do get home. Carseats, bedding, diapers, wipes. You get the idea. I might have to send Mom on a shopping run if they don't end up in the NICU. :)Somehow I don't think she will mind too much! Mostly we are just so excited. I am hoping these last couple weeks won't drag by too much. I don't think I can stand the anticipation!

SO great to hear you finally have a date set. We have diapers waiting for you! I'm trying to find an excuse to drive over to Worthington to drop stuff off for you. Hopefully Saturday if not sooner.

I think what she means is that if there is any concern about Charlie and Olivia's health - especially during this time of year - that the hospital won't rush to send them home.

raise your hand if you know Abby and Eli.

ok, if you REALLY know them, then you know that neither one of them would EVER wish ill-health on their children! i don't know what's worse, frankly - to express yourself in such a way as to be misunderstood or to be her "friend" and choose to ascribe malicious motivation to her.

Abby has had a long, difficult, and scary pregnancy and i don't think any of us can fully understand the stress she and the babies have been under. the last thing she wants is to bring her children home too soon. I WOULD WANT MY CHILDREN TO SPEND SOME TIME IN THE NICU, TOO, IF THEY WERE BORN 6 WEEKS PREMATURELY AND ONE OF THEIR AMNIOTIC SACS HAD BEEN RUPTURED THIS WHOLE TIME!

if, while the children are getting stronger and healthier under expert medical care, their mother has 5 damn minutes to herself to UNPACK THE STUPID DIAPERS FROM THEIR CONTAINERS, then hallelujah.

please, people, get a grip. this is Abby Bowman we're talking about. Abby Bowman!

since when have you known Abby Bowman to be evil?

well, thank you, Nic. i know we all appreciate your support. and if i misunderstood you (like a lot of people seem to be doing with Abby lately), then i apologize.

i think we can all agree that the stress is pretty sky-high right now, increased by the fact that Abby's dad had to be re-hospitalized last night.

maybe we all need to take a deep breath.

Not sure what the negative comments were but I can gather what they were. Come on... we all know that Abby and Eli will be stupendous parents (as they already are) and have had MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE to deal with than the average parent -- 1. b/c of Abby's bed/hospital rest and 2. because they have having TWINS. As a new parent as well, I totally understand her saying that she hopes they stay in the NICU for a bit. Our daughter was hospitalized for 1 week after being born. And although stressful, thank God she was there. I wouldn't have wanted her any where else. Which is to say that I (past tense) wished my daughter to stay in the hospital for as long as it took to be safe and healthy BECAUSE WE WANTED THE BEST FOR HER. This is the same for Abby and Eli, no doubt. If it's a stress you can't imagine, don't judge people or make comments to those friend who are dealing with babies in the hospital. They need support and nothing else.
