Riverside Hospital: Day 22

Blogging has been harder to do today because I must now stay flat on my right side. Being on my left side hurts too much because of my injury. The order to lay down all of the time has come because my water broke last night. It seems that only one sac has ruptured, but they aren't sure which one as no ultrasounds have been done. Oddly enough, I am now contracting less than I have for the past two months! They are trying to keep me pregnant as long as they possibly can, which could be an hour or it could be weeks. Once again, no one knows for sure.

They have me on antibiotics and are very vigilant about infection. Thankkfully, I can still take my pain meds, or this would be comletely unbearable. There was a bad incident with my nurse last night as all of this began to take place, but I will have to blog about that when I can type easier. But all is well now and we are just waiting. We will keep you posted as we recieve new information.

We are taking bets here. Leave a comment about how long you think we'll be able to hang on. Guess a birthdate!

December 24th! Christmas babies...and what a great present would that be?!?!

I'm really curious to know which child's water broke. At this point, would the kids still stay in the hospital until their due date? And did that stay around the middle of January?

And obviously you're probably NOT having Christmas babies (tho we can always hope)...my advice is to NOT have them on the 26th...I mean, I'm not complaining mind you, it's just that it's so anti-climactic for EVERYONE, even the person's whose birthday it is (after awhile, anyway)

And don't let ANYONE tell you how bad it is to have your birthday ON Christmas, or on the 24th or even on the 27th. No. At least on those days you can 1. SHARE the excitment, or at least BORROW the excitment that naturally leads up to or includes the big day, and 2. on the 27th or after, people have at least one day to "recover" and then they're somewhat ready to party again. But the 26th-huh uh.

And the 31st doesn't count, nor does the first of January, tho it comes close. Nope! The 26th of December-it stands alone as the single worst day of the year to have a baby or two. So-that's just my advice...I'm just sayin'....

And I guess I didn't predict any day at all yet did I? Well, they DID say you could go a couple of weeks, right? Hmmmmmmmm...well, even if the babies want to stay in there and hang out with each other, your little body just seems to want to deliver...NOW...so...I'll take a guess...a complete stab in the dark...I'll guess before next weekend...maybe even by Thursday....how 'bout that?

Hmmm... I'm going to say Thanksgiving. Although I want these babies to hold on in there for as long as possible, I have a feeling they'll smell the turkey and want to hit the buffet.

Abby, we're still thinking of you and praying for you all! Sorry this has been such a difficult ride for you... but you're handling it like the awesome mom you are already! Btw, it sounds like your injury may be some torn fascia. Is it like a searing, burning pain? Can't cough, laugh, breathe too deeply? Not that you want to think MORE about your pain or even care to figure out what it is... but just curious b/c I sustained a belly injury too (but not as painful as yours). AND we have something to send to you guys but haven't gotten to the post office to get it out yet. But we will soon! And I'm just dying to come and visit but we have to wait 3 more weeks until Muriel is 8 weeks (doc's orders)... ;)

i don't know when they're going to be born (although Debbie's guess of Thursday resonates with me)but i am quite sure they are not going to declare a political party affiliation. these two can't make up their minds to save their souls, can they?

God love 'em. :)

We're praying for you, Eli, Charlie, and Olivia. You are so strong and brave to go through all of this and it will be more than worth it in the end.

Well... let's think....

I'm going to go with..... November 12th so that they can be born exactly two months after me :-)
