Happy New Year!

2012 had a theme for me, though I didn't realize it until a few days ago. Maybe it's more like a golden thread that has woven it's way throughout the year. Adding sparkle and richness, but you can only see it when you stop and look closely.

GRATITUDE.

At the beginning of 2012, our Relief Society (the organization for women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) created blue booklets that were meant to helps us actually achieve some of our resolutions, and to improve ourselves in different areas. They included things like Intellect, Physical, Spiritual, Family History, Financial, etc. The first thing I chose to do, was offer a prayer of gratitude. I did this, and it was a wonderful prayer, and I asked that I would be more aware of my blessings.

I am ashamed to say, that I quickly forgot about it. Until I opened the book again in December to see what I had accomplished. :/ It was only then that I realized, that even though I had forgotten, the Lord had not. The topic of gratitude arose at Church, on Pinterest, on Facebook! I have been so much more aware of the MULTITUDE of blessings in my life. He has blessed me with a more keen sense of gratitude. I feel it so much more. And for that, I am...grateful. :)

So that was last year. This year, I have a few resolutions. I usually only make one, but because these are very specific, action oriented goals, as opposed to a more nebulous bettering-of-myself goal, I've got a few.

New Year's Resolutions:
1. Go to the Temple every 3 months. I haven't been since I found out I was preggo with the triplets!
2. Have consistent FHEs by planning them all at once at the beginning of each month. And keeping them short and simple.
3. Strengthening my relationship with Eli.

I'm excited for 2013. I know that we will definitely be buying a new van, which is exciting. I will be getting a new phone, YAY!! And Eli will be starting a new job. More on that in another post though. :)

So from our family to yours, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! May 2013 be full of blessings, love, and health!

Eli & I ringing in the New Year.

Congratulations on a relatively drama free 2012. Onward with 2013. Your goals are noble and achievable. I sustain you. :)

Temple-going is so worth it. You get back more than what you sacrifice to go, as you know. Every time I go, I make it a point to read D&C 109, 22-23. It's the dedicattory prayer for the Kirtland temple and was also used for the Columbus temple. I read it while I'm sitting in the Celestial room. I do it every. single. time. I feel empowered yet humbled when I read those words. Press on, daughter. xoxo Onward!
