Happy Memorial Day!

This was Charlie and Olivia's first Memorial Day, and it was a good one. It was laced with some sadness though, as Eli and I missed our fathers. Eli always watched the Memorial Day parade with his Dad at the same spot every year. And though the parade wasn't a tradition for my Dad and I, it was the first of the holidays when I began to wonder if it would be the last.

But, as always, our wonderful children made the day a success.

We got to the parade at 10:00, which is exactly when Charlie and Liv usually take their morning naps. Though they never actually fell asleep, they watched the parade in a half-sleep haze, as you can see from this picture!

We enjoyed the parade with Mimi, Jalen, Jaden, Grey, Tutu, and Whitney. We also found some other friends from the neighborhood too.

Even though they were fighting off sleep, the twins did see...

Women dressed as a flag,

The OSU marching band (this one is for you Dad and Don!),

their cousin Alex,

and the Shriners in their tiny cars!

After that we had a quick cookout at Tutu's and then headed over to Gram and Muff's for another cookout. Well, alright, we had a cookin. Gram and Muff don't really have place to cookout. But we had a great time.

By this time, Charlie and Liv were super tired, but this kept interfering with their rest.

Not being able to sleep just meant that there was more time to spend with Gram, Muff, Gigi and Gaga (as we are now calling Great Grandma and Grandpa Rankin respectively).

After a long walk through German Village it was time to head home and crash. All in all it was a good day.

Cute! That video was especially fun to watch! Livvy has changed just since we've been there! (tear) Why do babies have to grow up so fast!? (Answer: because mom and dad need to eventually sleep again)
