Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a great first Easter as a family of four. Charlie and Liv were super cute in their Easter outfits and they enjoyed their first Easter baskets.

Charlie got a totally adorable and soft bunny, a feely book about baby animals, a little ball/rattle and his first jar of baby food carrots. Liv got carrots, a rattle, her first book of bible stories and a fat little duck that quacks. Too cute! Growing up, I got a stuffed animal in my Easter basket and ended up with quite the collection of springtime animals. I was looking forward to carrying that tradition on with my kids.

We went to church in the morning and then went to Tutu's (Laura's) for and Easter lunch. It was tasty. But we were very lucky because we celebrated Easter a day earlier at Gram's (Mom's). Grandpa and Grandma Rankin were there, and Liv and Charlie were, as always, the center of attention.

It was also a day of reflection for me. I missed Dad, as I do with every "first" thing I do without him. But to know that we were celebrating and remembering our Savior's atonement made it less sad. Today is the day that made my Dad's passing okay. Today is the reason I do not mourn him as I might if I did not know that we will be together again. The Savior did so much through His atonement. He provided a way for us to repent and be cleansed of our sins. His death made it possible for us all to regain our bodies again. To LIVE again. Having lost my Dad has helped me appreciate this amazing gift all the more. And I know that I have barely scratched the surface of true gratitude, but I can't imagine being more grateful. He gave me my Daddy back. Happy Easter!!

Today is also special because Olivia and Charlie 4 months old today. And last night they gave their Dad and me the best Easter gift ever. That's right! They slept through the night! Here's hoping they continue that trend!

So what are they doing at 4 months? Working on getting those fingers in their mouths, that's what. And they are doing a mighty fine job of it too. Liv zeros in on her thumb, just like her Mommy. Here's to years of orthodontia! They are also really working at trying to reach out and touch things. Today in church, Charlie was having a little boxing match with the toys that hang from the bar on his carseat. (For those of you out there who don't know, that handle bar should not be moved back when the seat is in the car. It acts a roll bar. Right Nic?:) ) Anyway, he kept batting at them and cracking us up right in the middle of sacrament meeting. They are also finally reaching the point where they have more awake time during the day. I am loving this, but it is making it increasingly harder to get a shower and/or go out. But it's so exciting to see them awake and playing. Plus it gives me more time to interact with them. Now we just have to get them back on the same sleeping and eating schedule. It's been a little crazy lately.

So that's the 4 month update! We are happy, healthy, and perhaps rested!

I'm glad you guys had a happy Easter. I love Charlie's and Olivia's outfits. Unfortunately we had so much going on today I never did get a picture of Corbin and Nora in their outfits.

Can't you just picture Charlie at sixteen holding a video game controller in his hands. That's all I can see when I look at the picture of him on his stomach!
