The Blizzard of '08!

I have been so excited to write this entry! By now, all of you probably know about our blizzard here in Ohio. Oh my. You know how I feel about snow, so this was just about the most amazing thing I've ever experienced! I loved every second. So I made sure to document what we did during our snow-in. Below is a slide show of those things. The only thing that is not included is the necessary shoveling...but that's because we don't have a shovel! Not sure how we're going to get our cars out. :) So, here's what's been happening...

On Friday, the snow began just as I was leaving for work at about 9:40am. By 1:30 we were calling parents to come pick up the children. Thankfully, my co-worker Margie lives about 2 minutes from work, so she let me leave at 1:50. It took me almost 50 minutes to make it home. 270 from Sawmill Rd. to 315 was solid ice about and inch thick! But everyone was driving very carefully, thank goodness. Eli, of course, did not have to go into work, so we went over the the Old Bag of Nails pub for dinner. Then we got in our jammies and watched both Ray and Monster-in-law.

The next morning I woke up to a gigantic amount of snow! I swept a place for Emma who was now shorter than the snow, and got bundled up to take a walk to Dad's. Eli stayed home while he studied for his LAST FINAL! (which is on Monday at 8:30am!) My walk was the best walker EVER! It was so quiet and still, but I saw about 20 people in the few blocks I walked. They were shoveling driveways and children were playing, all as the snow continued to fall. I took pictures along the way. The snow was up to the middle of my calves, but thankfully the plows had been through at least once, so there was an easier place to walk...right down the middle of the road. My visit with Dad was nice, and he drove me part of the way home on his way to workout.

Adam and Liz came over soon after and we played games, played in the snow, and went to Old Bag of Nails again. Only this time they shouldn't have been open. We got there just before the rush, and there was one waitress taking orders, one girl hostessing, busing and delivering drinks, and one guy running the food. For the whole place. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't have it all together. We were sympathetic at first, but then after we had been there for a whole hour and still had not placed our order (while three other tables who came in after us with parties of 4 had ordered and started eating!) we got a little upset. It took another 30 minutes to get our food which was cold and dry, and another 30 minutes after that for Eli to get his SALAD! Needless to say, we mentioned this to the manager who kindly comped our meals. But we had fun anyway and we'll be back again. That's the great thing about this kind of snow, there just isn't any hurry.

So today, we have to find a shovel to dig our cars out, but church is canceled, so again, no hurry. I have loved this so much! Let's do it again next year!
